Many consumers don't realise that 60% of Barramundi consumed in Australia is imported. Without labelling in restaurants, many assume that if it's Barramundi, it's Australian.

The closure of restaurants, clubs and pubs in an effort to flatten the coronavirus curb lead to reduced customers for Australian farmed Barra. Some farmers, Humpty Doo Barramundi included, have teamed up with other Australian-owned businesses to offer food hampers and hot meals to support hospitality workers and people facing hardship due to coronavirus. 

A collaboration with PFD Food Services has also enabled Humpty Doo Barramundi to be made available to Foodbank customers.

"...they [PFD Food Services] process it into portions and bag to Foodbank’s requirements, freeze them and deliver to Foodbank in a few states,” says Miles Toomey, chief marketing and sales officer at Humpty Doo Barramundi. “It’s two Australian family businesses helping Australian families, because without PFD this would not have happened.”
