Humpty Doo Barramundi wins National Seafood Award
Humpty Doo Barramundi claimed the Large Business Seafood Award at the 9th National Seafood Awards in Sydney last night.
“We are absolutely delighted that we have won,” said Managing Director Bob Richards. “We were up against some other very deserving finalists. We have been runner-up at the National awards in the past but this is our first win.”
To be considered for the award, Humpty Doo Barramundi had to show evidence of sustainable growth, innovative production and contribution toward a positive public profile for the Australian seafood industry. Continual improvement in marketing and delivery of products and services to customers was also an important criteria.
“We have seen Humpty Doo Barramundi grow and become a powerhouse in the seafood industry,” says Con Andronis, a long time customer and one of the owners of eminent Victorian seafood retailer Clamms Seafood. “Our account has grown with them. We love the passion, service and consistency they provide.”
While winning the award is recognition for past successes, Bob puts it in perspective.
“I believe that our greatest triumph is that our business remains 100% family owned and operated and that our business creates employment opportunities for other families in our local region,” he says.
“Our passion is not just in growing fish, but in building a values-based, sustainable business that can underpin the emergence of a successful and sustainable seafood industry in the Northern Territory. We are fortunate to have a fantastic team of employees who work alongside us, helping ensure we make this a reality”
Humpty Doo Barramundi founders Bob Richards and Julii Tyson, along with son Jim Richards (also an owner), were present to receive the award.
